How owning a Sister NFT will provide access to Sisterhood School plus much more.
Why own an NFT? What value does it bring to me as a holder? What am I getting in exchange for purchasing an NFT?
Why own an NFT?
What value does it bring to me as a holder?
What am I getting in exchange for purchasing an NFT?
These were some of the many questions when I first heard about NFTs.
But before I dive into explaining what the Sisterhood School is and how owning a Sister NFT will provide access to Sisterhood School…
Let’s take it back to when I first learned about NFTs.
I started paying attention to NFTs when Gary Vee launched his original VeeFriends collection.
I had Ethereum in my wallet, ready to purchase (a cryptocurrency needed to buy a Veefriend)— but there was ONE thing stopping me.
I understood that by buying a VeeFriend, Gary provided holders access to Veecon (a 3-day conference) for 3 years.
The cheapest VeeFriend (at the time) was 0.5 Eth (around $2000USD), which worked out to be around $700 a year for 3 years — a pretty sweet deal if you asked me.
But, I was in Australia, and borders were closed (because of COVID). With no opening in sight, I thought I would be wasting my money if I couldn’t attend.
In hindsight, I now understand the VeeFriends NFT was far more than just access to Veecon, but as someone new to NFTs, I understood that if I buy this, I get access to this.
My mindset was still very much sat in Web2; it was a transaction based mindset.
What I didn’t understand at the time was that there were many other reasons behind owning an NFT, including collectability, access to a community, future benefits by holding, and even as an investment*
As humans, it’s in our DNA to collect things. We feel personal pleasure and a sense of pride in ownership, plus it helps us develop social interactions with fellow collectors → Why do we collect things?
Because NFTs are on the blockchain, we can prove digital ownership, allowing us to develop social interactions without being in the exact physical location of another collector, meaning we can create and develop online communities like never before.
And, in regards to future benefits of holding NFTs, using the example of Veefriends, a couple of months prior to the first Veecon, Gary airdropped (released/sent) to people’s wallets a separate Veecon ticket NFT which people were able to sell, gift or hold onto (it had no attachment to the original Veefriend other than if you owned one, you just received another NFT).
This means that had I bought an original VeeFriend and was unable to attend Veecon, I could have still held onto my VeeFriend and sold my Veecon ticket (of which many sold for the same price as what people originally paid for their VeeFriend.)
